Dear PLUS Model Directory Members...
We wanted to thank all of you who have joined the PLUS Model Directory in the last year... and what a year it has been! Many of you have found success and paid jobs through the directory... others have been chosen to appear in the First PLUS Model Directory Editorial (which was VERY well received :-) So much so that we are in the process of booking 2 more Directory shoots in other parts of the country! So make sure that your portfolio is up-to-date with your most current size, pictures and contact information -- who knows, we may be contacting YOU next!
For those that joined the Directory in May of 2007 and have not renewed, your listing will expire at the end of the month... so please make sure to check your Paypal account to renew. You don't want to miss out on a single curvy opportunity!
(And for those not currently members, please consider joining us as we have a lot of amazing opportunities coming your way!)
Keep thriving in your curves...

This Month's Question...
What is the best way to put together a portfolio? What type of pictures should it contain?
Larissa Answers...
The best portfolios are not about quantity, but quality of photos. Your book should at least have the basics which include the following:
1) A headshot/beauty shot.
2) A full body shot
Sometimes the occasion calls for a little extra something... like, say false eyelashes. If you want the most natural of false lashes, then I suggest either individuals or individual knot-free flares. Applying them might be a little bit tricky, but once you have got the hang of it... well, then it's really a piece of cake!
Putting them on one by one:
You will probably need no more than three or four on the outer corner of your eyes. You will need to stop either at the center of your lash line or before. The only way you can tell is by knowing what your lashes look like. I prefer to have a coat of mascara on before I start so that I can easily blend the falsies in with the second coat.
I had the privilege of being invited to be a speaker at Project Curves on Saturday April 26, 2008. Project Curves was brought to Chicago by founder of X'change models Myisha Hill.
As some of you may know, Project Curves is the traveling and "workshop" version of The Plus Academy in NY. As a former student of the Plus Academy I benefited greatly from the various classes I attended. Information and having one on one time with industry professionals was essential to my growth in the modeling industry and to my current position as editor of PLUS Model Magazine.
As I looked at the beautiful women that attended the workshop, they were eager and ready to take in all of the information that we were there to give them.
